Natural Rattan Furniture

We have been manufacturing and supplying natural rattan furniture since 1994. We don't mind if you call it Rattan, Wicker, Cane, Rotin or Rotan, we love making gorgeous, durable furniture from this sustainable material.
Rattan is an amazing resource to use for furniture production. Rattan naturally grows in the forests of Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra. Unfortunately, the tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia are being cleared at a faster pace than other regions in the world. Indonesia lost a staggering 0.84 Million hectares of primary forest per year from 2000 to 2012, totalling over 6.02 Million Hectares (The ICCT, 2016).
The animals in these regions, such as the endangered orangutans, are fighting to keep their homes and we need to encourage the government in Indonesia to protect these rainforests from being cleared for Palm Oil plantations by growing our natural rattan industry which symbiotically relies on the rainforests for survival.
Rattan grows at an astonishingly fast pace and it can only be found in the rain forests as the rattan plants will seek out trees to wrap and climb up all the way until it reaches the sunlight. The speed at which rattan grows means that we can harvest and replant rattan much quicker than trees – which can take decades to mature. This reduces our impact on the natural ecosystem of the rainforest.
Rattan is a wonderful material for indoor furniture. This material is lightweight and strong due to the tiny pores that run through a rattan pole. When it is steamed the poles can be bent and crafted into all different designs. All different species of the rattan plant and even different parts of the rattan pole can be used for different purposes. The larger rattan pole is usually used for framing a chair, then the smaller rattan poles called Jawit can be used for weaving and different decoration on the seat. We use the skin of the rattan, called lasio, to intricately bind the rattan joints or we can also use the skin for weaving different parts of the chair.
We have a large range of quality natural rattan products including:
